Sorry to flood your dashes but we need to get educated, get signing and get awareness… Wiki and Reddit and everyone need to do for Acta what we did for Sopa.
I would be really happy if people from all around the world would react to this like SOPA. I mean, I protested against SOPA even though I’m in the UK and so it technically wouldn’t affect me. So, I would be overjoyed if ACTA would stir up the same reaction as the SOPA and PIPA.

ACTA is more damaging than SOPA or PIPA, which is being negotiated between countries in secret, and has already had a signing ceremony some months ago. We must also draw attention to this as well as the SOPA and PIPA.

Can you imagine your Internet Service Provider policing everything you do online?
Can you imagine generic drugs that could save lives being banned?
Can you imagine seeds that could feed 1000’s being controlled and withheld in the name of patents?
This will become reality with ACTA.
ACTA is the Anti Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.
Disguised as a Trade Agreement, ACTA goes much, much further than that.
For the past 3 years, ACTA has been negotiated in secret by 39 countries.
But the negotiators are not democratically elected representatives.
They don’t represent us, but they are deciding laws behind our backs.
Bypassing our democratic processes, they impose new criminal sanctions to stop online file sharing.
ACTA aims to make Internet Service & Access Providers legally responsible for what their users do online, turning them into Private Copyright Police & Judge, censoring their networks.
The chilling effects on free speech would be terrible.
In the name of patents, ACTA would give large corporations the power to stop generic drugs before they reach them people who need them, and stop the use of certain seeds for crops.
The European Parliament will soon vote on ACTA.
This vote will be the occasion to say no once and for all to this dangerous treaty.
As citizens, we must urge our representatives to reject ACTA.

Say NO to ACTA
Countries involved: Australia, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States.
Canada has already signed ACTA (I’m still contacting my MP to protest it), but the EU is getting set to vote on it shortly. This takes SOPA/PIPA and makes it very much an international reality.

Personally, the graphic design and grammar are atrocious on this flyer, but I like the idea of a total boycott of media purchasing for an entire month.
Of course, I’m an unemployed father who hasn’t personally bought any media in a long while except for finally purchasing a used first-generation Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit plus balance board.
That aside, I also am not entirely sure that the PS is correct. Nor do I know the veracity of the connection with Anonymous.
Can anybody shed some light on this? I really would like to support such a project.
Dear Followers,
I rarely get worked up about things, but we are talking about our home, the Internet now. All of us found a safe, fun place here on tumblr and on thousands of other sites, now we have to protect them and our freedom.
SOPA/PIPA might be shelved for the moment, but ACTA is still an active, global danger for all of us.
Please watch this video, it explains clearly what kind of danger ACTA poses and then sign the above petition.

Five facts:
1. ACTA isn’t the “European” SOPA. It’s nearly GLOBAL, and will apply to every country that signs the treaty.
2. ACTA is far more aggressive. ACTA will not simply affect websites and have them blocked out of the internet - its measures go as far as surveillance of anything you share through private channels.
3. ACTA doesn’t have a campaign against it that is as wide-spread and organized as the SOPA one. This is DANGEROUS, as there’s less time between now and the final signing of ACTA.
4. ACTA has effects on healthcare, trade, and even tourism.
5. ACTA has to be stopped.
Let’s start spreading the word and organizing a good, solid response to it.
